5 challenging workouts to put on your radar

Yes, keeping a routine is essential to living a healthy lifestyle. However, the purpose of my blog is to inspire readers to try something new and when it comes to working out, shocking your body is one of the keys to success. Giving new workout methods a try and challenging yourself will push you to the next level so flirt with the idea of new fitness fads!

Workout Type: Megaformer

Why: This workout may have a slow tempo but it will get your body shaking immediately. This low impact, full body workout can burn up to 800 calories in just 50 minutes. It uses a system of springs and pulleys – and your own body weight – to work your upper and lower body with adjustable resistance. This is more than just Pilates. Workout Type: Rock Climbing/Bouldering

Why: Rock Climbing is straight up bad a$$. This workout combines cardio and strength training into a single workout. Virtually all major muscle groups are used when climbing – abs, obliques, delts, traps, biceps, lats, quads, calves and even your forearms. This challenging workout encourages you to problem solve and conquer your fears as you climb or boulder. It’s a physically and mentally demanding sport but an absolute blast.

Workout Type: TRX

Why: TRX is great for all levels but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Suspension training allows you to adjust your body in countless angles giving you the opportunity to challenge your body in every plane of motion. What I personally love about TRX, is that every exercise requires you to engage your core.

Studio Recommendations: Studio 7 Pilates + Barre, City Gym, LIT Method

Workout Type: Heated Power Yoga

Why: The pace of Power Yoga in a heated atmosphere gets your heart pumping and ensures a sweaty good time. Don’t worry so much about flexibility as this workout is more focused on movement, breath and balance. The heat will naturally help your flexibility. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and relaxed!
