Inside scoop: Once class begins, Yoga Six does not allow students in the room. This means you need to arrive early. If you are on time (even on the dot) they won’t let you in. I totally get why they do this but in my opinion there should be a buffer. People re-work their schedules, rush from work, hire sitters etc. to make yoga part of their daily routine. Sometime people get pulled over, can’t find parking or forget their yoga mat in the car and have to run back. Life happens and I think if you’re on time… exactly to the t. You should be allowed to practice. (Just my two cents!)

Yoga Six opened its doors late December. The Leawood location is one of 13 locations across the United States. Most locations are in Southern California and the Midwest. The six in their studio name refers to the results of a consistent yoga practice: Stronger, Leaner, Calmer, Clearer, Braver, Further.

The practice rooms are equipped with a sophisticated heating and ventilation system that maximizes comfort and adds to the overall practice experience. I noticed immediately that I wasn’t sweating nearly as much as I usually do, which is due to the humidity control in the room. Yoga Six also uses Tatami mat flooring, which is made from non-toxic, recycled materials. Tatami is gentler on joints than traditional wood floors. This type of flooring is fun when practicing inversions. For me personally, it makes me less fearful of falling.

Power with Mariana Eastham is currently my fave class Yoga Six offers. She was just named (1 of 2) best KC Class Pass instructors of 2015 (YGG!). Power is a heated, full-body practice with arm balances, inversions and progressive posture variations.

Another Kansas City Yogi name you might recognize is Wendy Zoog. You may recognize her from Fit Formula or Woodside. Her teaching style is fun and creative + accessible to students of all levels. She teaches Hot Yoga at Yoga Six.

Eventually they will weave in heated Vinyasa classes that I think I will really like too + I’ve been meaning to try their Deep Stretch. If you are interested in teacher training, I think they are offering a 200 hour Vinyasa program soon.
